I hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine (and showers) this week!
Here is the simplest way to make a natural (organic if you can) energy bar/ball. These are great for pre training, during long training events and also just as a bit of an energy hit whenever you need one.
The ingredients in these bites provide a great hit of healthy fats, carbohydrates, antioxidants - including polyphenols and other essential micronutrients. The cacao in these provide zinc, magnesium & copper. All really important minerals when it comes to exercise, for muscle and bone health and repair, as well as aiding a strong immune system.... which can really take a hit in prolonged exercise.
For roughly 6 - 12 energy bites - depending on how big you want to make them!
You will need:
A food processor
1 cup of pitted dates
3/4 cup of almonds & cashews
2 Tbs of Raw cacao powder - organic, raw is best - NATURYA is a great brand and can be found in supermarkets
OPTIONAL - 2 Tsp of Vanilla or orange extract
Throw all the ingredients in the food processor and process until it all starts to stick together. Take out as much as you want for each bite. Roll into a ball and place on cling film or baking paper.
These can be kept in the fridge for around 3 weeks and frozen for up to 2 months.
Enjoy!
