So, with the new Active recovery feature on the app I thought I would do a little post on its benefits to rehab & performance.

Active recovery can look different for everyone, it can come in so many forms from yoga to swimming, gentle cycling to breath work. Choose a form that you enjoy and reap the rewards.

Active recovery can have numerous benefits for your physical and mental well-being. Engaging in light exercise or activities during recovery periods or rest days can help increase blood flow, reduce muscle soreness, and promote faster healing. It also helps prevent stiffness and can contribute to a quicker return to your regular routine. Additionally, active recovery can have a positive impact on your mood, stress levels, and overall energy. It's an excellent way to support your body's healing process while staying active and enjoying the benefits of movement.

1. Reduced muscle soreness: Engaging in light exercise or low-intensity activities during recovery periods has been shown to reduce muscle soreness. This can help alleviate discomfort and allow for a quicker return to regular training.

2. Improved circulation: Active recovery stimulates blood flow, which can aid in the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscles and promote the removal of metabolic waste products. This improved circulation can enhance the recovery process. 3. Faster recovery: By maintaining light activity during recovery, you can help prevent muscle stiffness and promote the healing of micro-tears and other exercise-induced damage. This can potentially speed up the overall recovery time. 4. Psychological benefits: Active recovery can have positive effects on mental well-being. It can help reduce stress, improve mood, and contribute to an overall sense of well-being. Staying active during recovery periods can also help prevent the feeling of regression or loss of progress. It's important to note that the effectiveness of active recovery may vary depending on individual factors, such as the type and intensity of exercise performed, the duration of recovery periods, and an individual's overall fitness level. It's always advisable to consult with your coach or sports therapist (thats me) to determine the most appropriate active recovery strategies for your specific needs and circumstances.
